This month, we're featuring a German cult favorite: Mey. For decades, this family-owned company has made timeless, sustainable, and high quality basics that we swear by. In more recent years, Mey has become an industry leader in on-trend colors, fun loungewear, and sultry lingerie. We couldn't resist making a Justin Timberlake one-liner, but Mey's line is no joke! We sat down with Lindsay Smith, Mey's North American sales manager, to talk about what makes this brand so special.

Lindsay, thanks for taking the time! Tell us a little about Mey.
Mey is an nearly century-old German company that's a market leader in lingerie, nightwear, and essential basics. We use the highest quality heritage Peru Pima cottons, and Mey is known for outstanding quality and fit.

What about the spring/summer collection is most exciting for you?
Mey's designers are excellent at creating eye-catching, must-have prints with bold colors that you can only get at Mey, so it's exciting to have a one-of-a-kind summer style.

We loved the Sunny Honey this season in particular, but what are your go-to pieces in your permanent collection?
Mey has such a variety of go-to basics from the classic white T-shirt to pair with jeans, to lingerie-inspired camisoles that add a little pop on under a blazer. I find myself layering in those items in my Mey wardrobe. As we come into summer, my favorite T-shirt bras are our Amorous and Joan spacer bras; they're perfect for those high summer temps thanks to their breathability.

Couldn't agree more. Our clients loved the Joan classic colors and were really excited about this season's springy updates; it's a total classic. We know sustainability is important to Mey. Can you tell us a little bit about your initiatives?
-Mey has been a leader in sustainability before it was such a buzz word, with 78% of our raw materials being renewable. Mey in fact became the first German manufacturer of Forest Security Council-certified clothing in 2021 and is one of the first clothing companies worldwide with this designation. Mey's origins in the Swabian Alps have also long contributed to our sustainability efforts by keeping our supply chain close and vertical; for example, our superfine organic series has only a 96-mile round trip processing footprint from the yarn-spinning to finished product stage. We even have a hanger recycling program within Europe to cut down on single use plastics. Model in pink bra

That's incredible; talk about thinking globally and acting locally! Mey's known for its exceptional fit and Underpinnings in known for its commitment to size inclusivity. Mey's size range is considerably expanded from many European brands, but do you have any plans for size range expansion in the future? What about new basics?
Yes! Although we have long had a nice selection in our basics tanks, underwear, and nightwear that is quite inclusive (XXS to 2XL and occasionally to 4XL), in the past few seasons, Mey has worked to expand band and cup sizes to include 30-inch bands and G cups in key items that are much needed. We're always looking to optimize current basics and expand the line, and in fact we have a very exciting new launch of a new lower coverage t-shirt bra this August called Braligne.

We can't wait to try it! Thank you so much for your time, Lindsay!
